STATE MOCK TRIAL TOURNAMENT SHOWCASES BEST OF THE BEST

University High School State Champions in Mock Trial Competition

 

[PHOENIX, AZ] – On March 25th, 18 teams from across the state competed in the annual state Mock Trial Tournament.  Student teams study a fictional case and present their argument in front of a judge demonstrating their knowledge of the legal and justice system.

 

Top teams were:

State Champion: University High School Team 1

Runner-Up: Veritas Preparatory Academy Team 1

3rd Place: Veritas Preparatory Academy Team 2

4th Place: Arizona School for the Arts Team 1

 

Additionally, an All-State team is named by the judges from students who performed and exhibited the highest competency in trial process.

 

All-State Team

  1. Riley Blute – St. Gregory School (AADC scholarship winner!)
  2. Saige Douglas – Arizona School for the Arts (AADC scholarship winner!)
  3. Anna Folks-Duncan – St. Gregory School (AADC scholarship winner!)
  4. Maddeline McCabe – Tanque Verde High School (AADC scholarship winner!)
  5. Miraya McFall – Trivium Preparatory Academy (AADC scholarship winner!)
  6. Reid Foster – University High School
  7. Alexandra Mealman – Xavier College Preparatory

 

University High School will advance to the national competition in May, 2023 in Arkansas.
