Instruction Specialist

This position will develop interactive lesson plans to be distributed throughout the state. Please submit your resume and a lesson plan you have created to Lara Slifko. Lessons plans should be written as though they will be used by other educators. Submitted lesson plans will not be used publicly without the permission of the author.

Hybrid/Mix of Remote and In Office work - must be onsite when conducting trainings

Pay Scale: 58-62k DOE

SUMMARY:

Collaborates with the Senior Director of Education Programs to provide teachers, community resource people and others with quality training for LRE programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administers statewide LRE training and technical assistance for various LRE programs.

Recruits teachers and other volunteers to serve as program participants. Develops training program curricula, training agendas and appropriate techniques for follow-up (i.e., surveys, phone calls, working groups, etc.).

Serves as a liaison and facilitates collaboration between school and other community resources.

Uses technology to effectively communicate with LRE educators in a variety of settings throughout the state. Maintains portions of the LRE web site by making frequent updates to content.

Reviews LRE programs and materials for inclusion in LRE programs with special attention to training implications. Aligns program content to federal and state program standards. Provides analysis and recommendations for LRE programs training and overall programmatic improvement and growth to Foundation management.

Fosters public relations within the community to promote program awareness and interest. Fosters the development and maintenance of good working relationships with clients, volunteers, other agencies and co-workers.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in one or more of the following: education, communications, political science or related field.

• Two or more years of professional training or teaching experience in civic education.

• General knowledge of adult learning and pedagogical principles.

• Ability to align Arizona State Academic Standards and testing requirements with LRE lessons and activities.

• Demonstrated ability to develop LRE lesson plans and activities.

• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and diverse groups.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

• Willingness and ability to work with minimal or no supervision in a team based atmosphere.

• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

• Must be comfortable in a Windows environment and have competency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to travel in and out-of-state, if necessary.
